A major decision concerning the next presidential election was just made by the Ghanaian Electoral Commission. The Commission chose to uphold the original ballot order after Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) candidate Philip Appiah Kubi was disqualified. EC Chairperson Jean Mensa made the announcement during a November 12, 2024, Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
Jean Mensa stressed that the ballot format did not need to be altered as a result of the GFP candidate’s disqualification. Additionally, she emphasised that 90 percent of the presidential ballots had already been printed, guaranteeing that election materials would be available long in advance of election day. The Commission’s choice is intended to minimise the possibility of logistical problems and prevent any inconvenience. This choice was made following the untimely death of Akua Donkor.
