Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame revealed that three months before the 2024 general elections, Alan Kyerematen approached him with an offer to be his running mate. According to Okyeame Kwame, Alan, the founder of the “Movement for Change,” presented a list of ten criteria that he believed the artist met, which is why he wanted him as a running mate.
Okyeame Kwame ultimately declined the enticing offer due to the various challenges associated with a career in politics. He expressed concerns about potential propaganda, security risks, and the intense public scrutiny that typically comes with political involvement. In an interview on Joy FM on November 16, 2024, he mentioned that his family’s welfare also influenced his decision.

“I was in Kumasi for a function when Alan approached me. He outlined certain requirements for the person he wanted as his running mate during my visit. It was truly flattering. They were searching for someone who had made a significant impact, and with my 26 years of experience in the music industry, I fit the bill. Personal factors, including marriage and family, were also taken into consideration.”
