Government Orders Recall of Diplomatic and Service Passports to Strengthen Integrity
The Office of the President has mandated the recall of all Diplomatic and Service Passports issued during the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration. This move aims to reinforce the integrity of Ghanaโs official travel documents and bolster confidence in the countryโs diplomatic engagements.
Recall Directive to Enhance Transparency
In a letter dated January 14 and addressed to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, stressed that the directive aligns with the governmentโs commitment to maintaining strict adherence to national and international standards governing the issuance and use of official travel documents.
Deadline for Submission and Thorough Review
The directive sets a firm deadline of January 24, requiring all holders of these passports to return them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for review.
The Ministry has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive evaluation of all returned passports to ensure compliance with current eligibility criteria and regulations. This step is part of broader efforts by President John Dramani Mahamaโs administration to enhance the governance of diplomatic and service travel documents.
