John Dumelo, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) representing the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, has stepped in to cover the unpaid tuition fees for a visually impaired law student at the Ghana School of Law in Makola.
Dumelo’s prompt action provided a lifeline for the student who was at risk of being deferred due to unpaid fees. The student reached out to Dumelo through a mutual friend, explaining his urgent situation. He struggled to pay the remaining payment of ยข10,400, which could have delayed his progression in the legal program.
The visually impaired law student
Gabriel Selasie Doe, the visually impaired law student, had previously sold his laptop to help cover expenses and sought assistance from Dumelo. In a post on X, Dumelo shared, โBy God’s grace, I’ve paid all of his fees, provided him with some money, and even helped him get his laptop back.โ
The anxiety of potentially losing a year of studies added to the challenges Doe had already faced due to his visual impairment. Thanks to Dumelo’s support, the student can continue his education without further interruptions.
Dumelo’s generous act has offered immediate financial assistance and has been praised as a demonstration of his commitment to promoting education and supporting those in need.
