NPP’s 2024 Election Defeat: Dennis Miracles Aboagye Takes the Blame
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the former Communications Director of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, has publicly taken full responsibility for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections. He emphasized the need for unity and a strong opposition strategy moving forward.
Speaking on Point Blank, a segment on Eyewitness News on Monday, March 10, 2025, Aboagye described the election loss as a painful and challenging moment for the party. He extended a heartfelt apology to NPP members and sympathizers nationwide.
A Painful Loss for NPP
Acknowledging his role in the campaign, Aboagye admitted that the loss was difficult to accept.
“It was a very painful loss, it has been a very difficult moment for all of us. I personally would have wished that we won the elections. If we picked five people who really wanted NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2024 election, I would have been number one or number two.”
He went on to extend an apology to party supporters, stating that he takes full responsibility for the campaign’s failure.
Calls for Party Reorganization and Future Strategy
Aboagye stressed the importance of moving forward, reorganizing, and preparing for future elections.
“We should quickly let go, reorganize, and work together to do our job as an opposition party by providing a credible alternative to the people so we can get back to power. I am sorry, and if for whatever reason you find it difficult to point an accusing finger at anybody, put the blame on me.”
His remarks come as the NPP begins internal discussions on restructuring efforts and future election strategies. As the party navigates its opposition role, Aboagye’s statement serves as a rallying call for unity and resilience.
What’s Next for NPP?
With the 2024 election loss behind them, the NPP is now focused on rebuilding and strengthening its base. Political analysts suggest that the party must address key issues such as internal unity, policy refinement, and a stronger grassroots engagement strategy.
