Frank Annoh-Dompreh Urges NPP Supporters to Stand Firm Amid Electoral Tensions in Ablekuma North
NPP’s Frank Annoh-Dompreh Calls for Unity in Ablekuma North
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ablekuma North to stand firmly with their fellow party members during confrontations with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking at a gathering of party supporters during a visit by the NPP caucus leadership to the party’s parliamentary candidate, Akua Afriyie, Annoh-Dompreh emphasized the importance of solidarity.
“If you are a member of the NPP and you witness a fellow party member in a confrontation with an NDC member, join your party member to ensure the NDC member is dealt with,” he declared. His statement underscores the heightened political tensions in the constituency following the recent elections.
NDC Accused of Obstructing Electoral Process
Annoh-Dompreh accused the NDC of deliberately obstructing the Electoral Commission (EC) from completing the collation process in Ablekuma North. He warned that the NPP would not tolerate further delays and issued a stern ultimatum to the EC.
“We are giving the EC one week—seven days. They must declare our candidate, Akua Afriyie, as the winner of the Ablekuma North election,” he insisted. The NPP minority caucus believes that any further delay in announcing the results would lead to continuous disruptions in Parliament.
Warning to NDC and Calls for Police Intervention
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP also directed his concerns toward the NDC, particularly its leadership under Mahama Ayariga. He warned that if the NDC continues to prevent the EC from completing the collation process, they would face unrest in Parliament.
“If the NDC, led by Mahama Ayariga, does not act reasonably and continues to obstruct the EC, they will never know peace in Parliament,” Annoh-Dompreh stated.
Additionally, he called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, to intervene decisively against what he described as the NDC’s disruptive tactics. “If the IGP decides to remain passive and allows these actions to continue, we will persist in our demonstrations,” he warned.
NPP’s Commitment to a Fair Electoral Process
The NPP minority caucus remains steadfast in its demand for a prompt conclusion to the electoral process in Ablekuma North. They believe that the delay in declaring Akua Afriyie as the MP-elect undermines the democratic process and the will of the people.
