Anlo Chiefs Condemn Disrespectful Remarks in Parliament
The Chiefs and people of Anloland, led by Togbi Sri III, the Overlord of Anlo Dukor, have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to identify the Member of Parliament who made disparaging remarks about Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Klottey Korle.
The offensive comment, โShut upโyou daughter of a murderer,โ was made during a Parliamentary debate on February 4, 2025. The Anlo Dukor Council described the remark as blasphemous and defamatory, demanding accountability for the disrespect shown to Zanetor and her family.

Suspected MPs Deny Involvement in the Incident
Initially, two MPsโSamuel Abu Jinapor (Damango) and Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei (Bosome Freho)โwere suspected of making the derogatory statement. However, both have denied any involvement.
In a letter dated February 5, 2025, the Anlo Dukor Council expressed deep displeasure over the incident, emphasizing the gravity of the insult. They highlighted that Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the eldest daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, is a respected figure in the Anlo community. The council views the remark as an attack not only on Zanetor but also on her fatherโs legacy.
Anlo Chiefs Demand Accountability by February 10
The Anlo Dukor Council has called for the identification of the offending MP by February 10, 2025. This will allow the Anlo leadership and community to decide on the appropriate next steps.
The Chiefs of Anloland are adamant that such disrespectful behavior in Parliament must not go unaddressed. They stressed the historical and cultural significance of the Rawlings family to the Anlo people, underscoring the need for accountability and respect in public discourse.
