President Mahama Appoints Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah as Acting Executive Director of EOCO
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), effective Monday, January 27, 2025.
The announcement was confirmed in an official letter dated January 23, 2025, and signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President. This strategic move aligns with the Presidentโs commitment to enhancing the countryโs fight against organized crime and corruption.
Appointment in Line with Constitutional Requirements
The decision to appoint Dapilah was made by Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804). The appointment is contingent upon the constitutionally required advice of EOCOโs Governing Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Dapilah to Replace Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah
Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah replaces Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah as Acting Executive Director of EOCO. With a wealth of experience, Dapilah is expected to bring his expertise to the forefront, strengthening EOCO’s strategic operations and its role in enforcing the law effectively.
