Electoral Commission Reschedules Nominations for Nkoranza North & South District Elections
Key Update on Ghana’s District Elections
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially rescheduled the nomination period for the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South District Level Elections, along with other vacant electoral areas. The new nomination period will run from Monday, April 7, to Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Why the Change?
This adjustment follows the Interior Ministryโs declaration of Tuesday, April 1, as a public holiday. The ECโs move ensures candidates have ample opportunity to complete the nomination process without disruption.
Official Statement from the EC
In a statement signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the EC confirmed:
โThe times and venues for submitting nominations remain unchanged. We urge the public to take note accordingly.โ
Election Timeline & Process
The elections are set for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, under the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89). This process aims to elect new Assembly and Unit Committee Members following the expiration of their terms.
Additional By-Elections
By-elections will also be conducted on the same day to fill vacancies caused by resignations or the passing of Assembly Members.
How to Apply: Nomination Process
Prospective candidates must:
- Obtain nomination forms from the ECโs district offices or download them from the official EC website.
- Submit completed forms in quadruplicate along with two recent passport-sized photographs (red background).
- Submit forms to the respective Returning Officer between 9:00 AM โ 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM โ 5:00 PM during the nomination period.
