Mona Faiz Montrage’s Lawyers Request Passport for Self-Deportation to Ghana

Lawyers Seek Passport Release for Deportation

Lawyers representing Ghanaian influencer and socialite Mona Faiz Montrage have formally requested that U.S. authorities release her passport to facilitate her self-deportation to Ghana after she completes her prison sentence.

Letter Addressed to Judge J. Paul Oetken

In a letter addressed to Judge J. Paul Oetken, the legal team explained that the passport, which was surrendered during her arrest, must comply with an earlier judgment mandating her deportation upon release.

“We represent Ms. Mona Montrage on the above-captioned matter. We write with the government’s consent to respectfully request the release of Ms. Montrage’s passport, which was surrendered to Pretrial Services at the time of her arrest,” the letter stated.

    Escort and Travel Arrangements

Under the arrangement, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) will escort Ms. Montrage from the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Philadelphia to the airport upon her release. She will board a flight directly to Ghana without any domestic layovers.

    Serving Time for Fraud Conviction

Ms. Montrage self-surrendered on July 29, 2024, and is currently serving a one-year-and-a-day sentence at FDC Philadelphia. Her conviction stems from a six-count indictment accusing her of involvement in romance fraud schemes and laundering the proceeds.

A Step Toward Rebuilding Her Life

This development signals a significant step toward Mona Montrage’s return to Ghana, where she is expected to focus on rebuilding her life following her release.
