Electoral Commission Uncovers Ballot Paper Shortfalls in Volta Region, Sets Corrective Measures
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced a significant shortfall in the Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers for several constituencies in the Volta Region, namely Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West. This revelation comes as the country prepares for its highly anticipated general elections.
EC‘s Plan to Address Ballot Shortfalls
In a formal communication to representatives of all presidential candidates, the EC detailed its plan to resolve the issue by printing additional ballot papers. Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra has been selected for this critical task to ensure the timely availability of ballots for the affected areas.
To maintain transparency and foster trust in the electoral process, the EC has invited political parties and independent presidential candidates to delegate two representatives each to oversee the printing process. This observation session is scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, at 10:00 am at Acts Commercials Printing House.
Ensuring Fairness and Transparency
The discovery of ballot paper shortages and the subsequent measures by the EC highlights the Commission’s dedication to addressing logistical challenges promptly. By involving all stakeholders in the corrective process, the EC aims to reinforce public confidence in the integrity of the elections.
