Ebo Anderson Jr., popularly known as Kizomba King and the pioneer of Kizomba dance in Ghana, has announced his involvement in designing the dance communication concept for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to aid in community engagement. This initiative is part of the NCCE’s Dance to the Beat Peace Campaign, launched on Monday, November 11, 2024, to foster political tolerance ahead of Ghanaโs December 7 general elections.
The campaign, themed โPromoting Political Tolerance through Dance,โ uses music and dance to connect with the public, particularly targeting younger audiences, to spread messages of peace and inclusion. Speaking on Channel One TV, Kizomba King explained that he crafted specific dance communication moves aimed at educating people on their civic rights and encouraging political tolerance.
โThis is called Dance Communication,โ he explained. โThe NCCE has a mandate to educate Ghanaians on their civic rights, including the right to vote. However, communication can be challenging because of the current perceptions surrounding politics. So, I developed dance communications, as dance resonates positively with youth and communities.โ
He further elaborated, noting that dance serves as a unifying gesture that fosters friendship and engagement, making it a powerful tool for community outreach. โWhen someone dances for you, they instantly become a friend. This initiative began in 2020, and it was a success. This year, the NCCE decided to take it further, so we are bringing it to more communities,โ he added.
