A high-level closed-door meeting was held today at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), bringing together the Mayor of Accra, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ablekuma West, Hon. George Kpakpo Allotey, and a team of consultants working on the Dansoman Emergency Coastal Protection Project Phase 2.

Focus on Accelerating the Sea Defence Project

The meeting focused on strategies to expedite the much-anticipated sea defense project along the coastal belt, spanning from Ablekuma West to Ablekuma South. This ambitious initiative is designed not only to safeguard communities from coastal erosion but also to transform the shoreline into a vibrant socio-economic hub.

Socio-Economic Benefits for Coastal Communities

As part of the project, several amenities are expected to be introduced, including:

• Modern cold stores and fish markets

• Community clinics

• Solid waste collection centers

• Sanitary facilities

• Shops and car parks

These facilities aim to improve livelihoods, boost business opportunities, and enhance living conditions for residents along the coastal stretch.
